Is begu a detox diet?

We find the term ‘detox’ a bit misleading which is why we do not mention it. Technically your body contains all the tools it needs to ‘detox’ in the form of kidneys, liver, skin etc. Therefore diets claiming to detox the body may not do quite what you expect. It is however important not to overload the body with toxins, which is why beguteas and begunutrition are perfect for letting your body get in control.

Can I buy the teas, nutrition or fitness plan separately?

our begufitness and begunutrition areas are free for anyone to look at and are designed to work hand in hand with our teas. Customers receive a eating and workout guide when they receive their tea.

How much weight will I lose with begu?

That’s entirely up to you. If you follow our plans, exercise, eat healthily and use our teas to help, you’ll be able to fulfill your weight ambition.

How long will it take to see results?

Unfortunately that depends a bit on you! According to the NHS, 1-2 pounds per week is a healthy and sustainable weight loss, however everyone is individual and thus the amount of weight lost is also dependent on the individual. Most people will see results quickly as switching from bad eating habits to good ones will shock your body into shedding that weight.

What do I do if I have paid for my products but change my mind?

If you return the product, unopened, within 14 days of telling us you no longer want it, you’ll receive a full refund.

How much do the teas and plans cost?

The prices of our teas and plans are displayed on the site, within the Shop pages.
We think they are excellently priced and great value, especially the begulife plans, where you get large discounts for subscribing, not to mention the benefits of the targeted teas and access to our extensive begunutrition and begufitness databases.
If you wish to purchase the teas individually, without subscribing, as part of beguone, the teas are priced as follows:
Crave, Calm, Appetite are £24.99 each (for 28 tea bags)
Morning Buzz and Nightea Night are £19.99 each (for 28 tea bags)
System Cleanse is £10.99 each (for 14 tea bags)
beguone, begutwo, beguthree and begufour plans are priced according to the teas you decide are best for you.
begutwo is available as a one-off purchase at £29.99 to £34.99 depending on your tea choice.
If you subscribe you get an instant 10% discount of these prices.
beguthree and begufour are available as great value subscriptions (saving you up to 40% off normal individual retail price), priced between £39.99 to £49.99.

Do you have a phone number I can contact you on?

Not yet sorry. We are currently looking at ways of providing a phone service that lives up to our expectations. We will let all our customers know once we have something sorted out.

What do I get for my money?

You get our wonderful teas along with guides to begunutrition and begufitness that are designed to help you live a healthier, happier life. We call this our begulife plan.

begutea

What’s in my tea, how does it work?

Our ingredients are ethically sourced from the world’s premier tea plantations and herb gardens. They are then lovingly blended and bagged in biodegradable pyramid teabags.

Each blend is designed to help you in a different way, you can see the full range [here] and you can find our which tea would benefit you most by filling out our questionnaire [here].

Does my tea contain laxatives?

Our system cleanse blend contains a light laxative to help your digestive system do what it does best. We recommend that this blend is used for a short period at the beginning of your plan, mainly if up till now you have had quite a poor diet heavy in processed or highly refined foods. All of our other teas are laxative free.

Are your teas natural?

Yes they are. And they’re ethically sourced and bagged with love in biodegradable teabags.

Is there an age limit?

We believe that you should be over 16 to follow our tea plans.

Is my tea caffeine free?

Most of our blends are caffeine free. However, there are some times when a caffeine kick can be helpful – so we only use caffeine as and when necessary. For example, our Morning Buzz blend delivers a soft and well-timed caffeine boost.

How is begu tea different from any other teatox brand?

We believe our tea is the tastiest on the market – but we would say that wouldn’t we 😉

In reality, we don’t make outlandish claims about weight loss. But we do promote a healthy, manageable lifestyle that can be sustained indefinitely and our teas help you achieve that. A regular, specially personalized tea coupled with our begufitness and begunutition plans will help you lose weight. But it does require a bit of effort from you.

Is my tea gluten free?

Yes it is.

Can I drink coffee as well?

Yes you can. We would suggest you avoid the high calorie flavoured coffee’s from popular coffee houses as these can be surprisingly calorie rich once you add the syrup, whole milk and whipped cream. They may taste great but can contain well in excess of 600 calories in some cases. Therefore if you fancy a coffee stick to black or with a little skimmed or soya milk. Also bear in mind some coffee’s can be high in caffeine. Our body adapts quickly to high amounts of caffeine which can result in excess intake and thus increased heart rate and poor sleep quality. Therefore we would not recommend excessive consumption of strong coffee. Our tea has been specially blended to give you just the right amount of stimulation without any of the side effects.

begunutrition

How do I use begunutrition?

Simple really. Take a look at our begunutrition guide that comes with your tea or if online, you cant miss it as its the large button on the left once you’ve logged in and come to the begunutrition welcome area. This will tell you what we recommend in terms of numbers of meals etc…, then use the filter to find the meals that suit you. Don’t forget to take a look at our reference documents if you have time. Matched to the tea we recommended, they contain some really useful do’s and dont’s which may help keep you on track.

Can I upload my own recipes to the website?

Yes you can, but we would like to take a look first. All the entries on our database are carefully vetted for nutritional content and matched to our tea plans. If you come across a recipe or product in store that you would like to share then we would love to hear from you. You can send it to us via email or send us a picture of the information and once we take a look we can add it.

Can I cook or buy something that isn’t in the begunutrition library?

Yes of course you can. Although we have put in a lot of effort to have foods in there that suit as many people as possible, we recognise that not everyone can find or has the time to find the right meal 100% of the time. We would just recommend that you stick to common sense. That means try to go for whole foods if you can…not processed. This means meats, vegetables and wholegrains, rather than pastries and white pastas and breads, or foods that have been blended with many other ingredients, which is very common in pre-prepared foods. We are adding to our library all the time so if you want to add something, see our FAQ about getting foods added (subject to us taking a look first of course ;-))

How do I contact you if I have a question about begunutrition?

The best way is by sending us an email via nutrition@begu.co.uk as this goes to the right department. Alternatively you can contact us via our Facebook account.

I cant find a shop or restaurant where I regularly buy from. How do I know if there is anything suitable for me from there?

We are working hard to expand our meals to cover as many places as possible, so please bear with us, as there is a lot out there and it changes all the time. If you cant find anything from the food outlet you regularly go to, then it might be that we haven’t added it yet, or it might be that we looked and decided there wasn’t anything healthy enough at the time! If you are not sure, send us an email on info@begu.co.uk or via Facebook and we can let you know. In the meantime, look for some alternatives that suit your tastes. We would hope there is enough choice to keep you eating healthily.

What is bad for you, sugar, fat or carbs?

This is a very good question and if you look at the latest scientific evidence, it is somewhat conflicting. There is some suggestion that sugar can promote cravings of sweet things, which is obviously not a good thing. It would make sense as your body will quickly metabolise simple sugars, causing a drop in blood sugar and therefore cravings for more, however scientific evidence of this is not established yet. Fats have had a lot of bad press for many years, and still do, however there is again emerging evidence that not all fats are bad for you. Fish oils, and dairy fats for instance might actually be the good guys. Carbs have been the subject of all sorts of fad diets of late, mostly in terms of a ‘low carb’ diet. Again these can be misleading and not necessarily a good thing, as there are good and bad carbs. So cutting down on the cake…good…cutting down on all carbs, perhaps not so good. Essentially and quite simply we would recommend keeping sugars to a minimum (including artificial ones), stick to fish oils and a little dairy (plus a bit for cooking of course), and go for whole grain carbs (wild or wholegrain rice, quinoa etc…) Take a look at our recipes in begunutrition, as we have done a lot of the hard work for you :-).

begufitness

How do I use begufitness?

It’s really simple, make sure you have warmed for at least 5 minutes before getting started. This is really important.

Use the advice and example stretches provided to warm up.

Try walking or jogging on the spot (or even outside) to increase the body’s temperature

Or perform Dynamic Stretches to reduce muscle stiffness and/or specific stretches for muscles that will be used during exercises (see the stretch examples provided)

Dynamic stretching (a routine where momentum and active muscular effort are used to stretch and the end position is not held. It prepares the body for physical exertion and increases the range of movement, blood and oxygen flow to muscles before the workout). This form of stretch can improve performance and reduce the risk of injury.

For a full body workout, follow the guidance under ‘How to use begufitness’ on the website. There is a great range of instructional videos to follow that target different general zones of your body. We recommend selecting 2 different exercises from each of the categories for each workout – upper body, lower body and core strength. By changing the exercises you do, this will keep the body guessing and you more interested and inclined to keep going.

Do this 15 – 30 minute routine 3 or 4 times a week, beginning with 8 – 12 reps of each exercise and build up to 3-4 sets of each.

Be sure to rest for 30 seconds between each set and drink plenty of water.

For other routines, go to our WORKOUTS section.

We recommend trying 2 x Cardio, 1 x Legs, 1 x Bums and Tums per week or mix and match as you want.

Our fitness videos are simple to use, just click on the one you want to watch, and watch our PT, Ross, who explains and shows you the correct technique to follow, and the muscle groups targeted.

If you have any specific questions or concerns, you can contact our excellent Personal Trainer, Ross, directly through fitness@begu.co.uk

Do you provide 1:1 personal training?

Not yet, but do watch this space!

Our PT, Ross, is very keen to engage with you personally for any fitness-related questions or advice that you might have, so feel free to contact him at fitness@begu.co.uk.

Also, we are working hard to provide you with completely personalised training plans through our begulife plan subscriptions. We are really excited about this great feature, and it will be available very soon via our website and App.

We strive to provide you with a fully tailored lifestyle solution in terms of our specially created teas, nutrition and also fitness, so you can reach your goals, with ease and complete confidence.

Can I use begufitness if I have never exercised before, or very little?

Yes, our videos and routines have been carefully devised by our Personal Trainer, however you should consult a physician before starting any exercise program and you follow such programs at your own risk.

Whilst we give guidance as to how to perform any exercises, it is your responsibility to warm up properly and ultimately to decide whether or not you are capable of performing the exercise/workout without sustaining injury. (Please see our disclaimer on the website).

What is the best exercise for losing weight?

This is up for debate. Endurance-type and resistance training both have positive effects on your body and wellbeing generally.

Endurance training is performed with moderate intensity but resistance training has effects on basal metabolic rate (BMR).

The benefit of resistance exercise is that a single session can provide a sustained increase in BMR for up to 48 hours post workout (and even longer has been observed) which can help with weight control. The reason being that this sort of training develops muscles, which compared to fat tissue, requires more calories to fuel. Therefore, the more muscle mass you have, the greater your BMR.

Another popular exercise type is high-intensity interval training or HIIT, whereby low or moderate intensity exercise is interspersed with short periods of high-intensity exercise. Particularly good for those with limited time, this has been shown to provide quick and beneficial changes in metabolic function and even lower body fat. This is not for everyone, it is gruelling and hard to sustain.

Ultimately, everyone is different, so the best exercise for losing weight is one that you will regularly do. It’s hard to keep doing something which you get no enjoyment from, so if HIIT is just no fun, or if lifting weights fills you with fear, go for what suits you and your lifestyle. The important thing is to keep at it (and eat and drink well of course).

We do recommend that you vary your routines using our online video database. By combining different types of exercise together in routines or varying what type of training you do from one session to the next, means you should get the optimum and sustained benefits.

It is important to remember that it is very difficult to impact body fat in a meaningful way through exercise alone.

Weight loss through exercise solely differs also between individuals. Many other factors are at play including your genes, biological and behavioural considerations.

For exercising, rather than thinking of what is the absolute best out there, we suggest trying our workouts and finding what works for you, where you are satisfied with the results, and also most importantly something you actually enjoy doing and will keep up!

Exercising, in whatever way, has a huge range of benefits, not just on losing weight, you will reduce the risk of heart attack, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes, feel good, sleep better, reduce stress. So many positives!

Are there any more advanced fitness videos or workouts?

Yes, we are working on bringing you even more great instructional videos and full-length workout routines for all fitness levels. Watch this space!

In the meantime, if it’s just too easy, you can increase your workout volume to accelerate weight loss by:

  • add more reps (but keep intensity high and use resistance that challenges you)
  • add more sets
  • use a stronger band
  • complete more total exercises per workout

While on the begulife plan

How long should I stay on the begulife plan?

You can stay on the begulife plan for as long as you like, and stop whenever you want to.

Can I still drink alcohol?

Alcohol is very calorific and pretty toxic. Long term also its a depressant.

Actually, gram for gram, alcohol contains almost the same amount of calories as pure fat, so cutting this down or out completely could affect your weight, assuming you don’t compensate for the lost calories by eating more.

However, we’re all human, and if you fancy a little cheat now and then, we’d not say no.

Can I change my tea choice in the begulife plans?

Yes, that is the beauty of the begulife plans, they are fully flexible. We do suggest that you begin for month 1 with the system cleanse, however after this you should no longer need this tea in the package specifically, although it does taste great and work very well. You can select the teas you want when you purchase in the shop, and for future months, if you want to try something different, they can easily be swapped within your account settings.

Can I take meal replacement shakes?

Protein shakes after a great workout are fine, to replace lost fluids and salts and to help build that great looking body, but we don’t recommend using shakes instead of meals, as they can be high in sugar or other carbohydrates, or artificial sweetener and don’t give your body the healthy foods it needs.

Can I stay on my plan but add or remove a tea from my plan?

You can swap teas within your plan but currently if you would like to add or remove a tea from your plan you will need to either cancel your plan subscription and start a new plan that suits you, or you can top up your plan with individual teas whenever you like from the shop.

What if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

If you are trying to conceive, are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should always seek professional advice before using. We recommend you take a copy of our ingredients on our ‘Shop’ page and discuss any concerns you might have with your doctor, nurse or pharmacist about whether Begu tea is suitable for you. Likewise with begu fitness and nutrition, you should speak with a professional before making any significant changes.

When can I change my tea choice with a begulife plan?

You can change your tea choice at any time up to 14 days before your next payment is due. Your begulife plans are supplied to you automatically every 4 weeks, so if you decide you want to try a different tea, or upgrade (or even downgrade), you can easily do this in your account settings within the first two weeks after your plan has been dispatched.

What if I am taking contraceptives?

If you are taking contraceptives, we would recommend that you talk to your doctor, nurse or pharmacist before using begu tea if you have any concerns, and provide the list of our ingredients on our ‘Shop‘ page. A full list of ingredients is shown for each tea in the beguone section.

Can I use begufitness and begunutrition if I don’t buy the tea?

begunutrition and begufitness is free for anyone to browse, but only customers receive an eating and workout guide with their purchase.

Are there any side-effects?

As long as you’re not allergic to any of the listed ingredients, there are no side effects to our teas.

Do I have to follow the nutrition and fitness plans or can I just drink the tea?

You can, of course, just drink our teas. They are naturally healthy and delicious and they have been specially formulated with key ingredients that are matched to you, if you have taken our questionnaire.

However, you will benefit most by following the nutrition and fitness plans as well.

Do I have to eat healthily and exercise? (i.e. foods to eat and foods to avoid)

We recommend that for the tea to work to its full potential, you should stick to a healthy, calorie controlled diet. It’s best to try to stick to whole foods rather than anything processed, as processed foods are more likely to contain a high calorie content (known as calorie dense). Check out our diet tips, or if you want to make the best progress possible for you, we recommend trying our personalised diet program to get the foods, drink and exercise that is right for you.

Can I suspend my plan if I haven’t used all my tea?

Yes you can. All our plans can be suspended via your account if you need a little more time. As long as you allow at least 14 days before your next shipment. You can also change your tea choice for some teas depending on which plan you are on if that is a better option. See our FAQ on switching teas for more information.

How do you help me maximise my weight loss?

At begu, our core belief is that anyone can reach their lifestyle goals with the right plan and the right level of commitment (and right mindset of course). We all know that we’re individuals, and so it doesn’t really make sense that a one-size-fits-all approach would be the best or most effective way of achieving our goals. This is why we developed our personalised plan which uses our unique 4 step approach.

Step 1 is to take our questionnaire, this helps both us and you understand the sort or person you are.

Step 2 is to start with our personalised tea plans which are specially formulated to match your questionnaire results.

Step 3 is to utilise begunutrition, which is designed to suit you wherever your are and whatever your day is looking like, whilst also allowing you to find the foods which suit your questionnaire results.

Step 4 is our easy to use begufitness online studio, which can flex with your ability and time.

We firmly believe that to change your life for the better and in the healthiest and most sustained way possible you need our begulife plan. All we ask is that you put some effort in too.

Will the benefits reverse as soon as I stop?

Leading a fitter, healthier life is about lifestyle change. If you go back to your old ways once you have stopped our plans, you will eventually go back to where you began.

What is a weight plateau and how do I avoid it?

Hitting a weight plateau can be very frustrating when you are trying to reach your goal. Our first advice would be not to panic, or feel that your efforts are wasted, or that your plan is failing. Hitting a plateau is actually your bodies natural response to losing weight. It may seem odd, but we are genetically engineered for times when food can be scarce (feast or famine), and so your body will naturally counteract any weight loss after a while to retain some fat reserves, which results in a drop off in weight loss also known as a plateau. Avoiding it is partly down to individual make up, and also avoiding prolonged static food and exercise plans. If you are following a begulife plan and have any questions, then contact us for help on info@begu.co.uk or via twitter. We have a team of experts on hand to help deal with these challenges.

Once I reach my goal can I stop?

You can stop any time you like. Our hope is that we make lifestyle change easier and that you’d like to maintain the new you.
